The University of Vechta and Carl von Ossietzky University Oldenburg have jointly launched the project “Einstein Your Data – Data Literacy for Students.” It is part of pillar 3 of FDM-NDS and is aimed at students of all disciplines.
The aim of the project is to promote students’ research data literacy and familiarize them with the basics of professional data handling – such as secure storage, structured filing, and organization of research data. As part of the project, practice-oriented learning materials are being developed, including videos, interactive tasks, and checklists that can be used for self-study as well as for teaching and consulting. All materials will be made available as open educational resources (OER) to enable long-term and cross-university use. At the same time, digital, data protection-compliant data rooms will be created in which students can securely manage their research data.
One focus is on involving students in the development and evaluation of the offerings at an early stage to ensure that the content is practical and needs-oriented.
